Black Desert Mobile: Journey Since Heidel Ball
Hello, Adventurers! I’m Laila. The video you’re watching right now is the Heidel Ball, “Story So Far,” which means today we’re going to talk about our journey together throughout Black Desert Mobile, starting right after Heidel Ball until our latest update today. As always, we have Jeremy with us to talk about this together.
Hello, Adventurers! It’s so good to see you again. Also, our Executive Head of Division, Chang-Wook, is here joining us to deliver all the messages and information that he has prepared. We all know you are much more excited to hear from Chang-Wook than from us.
Hello, Adventurers! This is my second time in front of the camera, and I am thrilled to be here again. Well then, we should get started. But before we do so, I must inform you that Jeremy and I will be speaking in English for your convenience, but Chang-Wook will be speaking in Korean to deliver his message fully to all of our Adventurers. There are also 8 different languages that we prepared, so you can turn on the settings right below the bar. Please understand, and let’s start right away.
Recent Updates and Roadmap
Before we start with the recently patched updates on the roadmap, I would like to hear from your voices. First, there was the update that you all liked. When battling in the field with other guilds, it was pretty hard to figure out the locations, but with the ping function updated, many of you told us that it has become much more convenient to play the guild content strategically, right? Thank you all for the positive feedback toward our quality of life updates. We’re constantly looking for inconveniences we can work on, and we’ll continue to do so to provide you with a more fluid gameplay environment.
Also, despite the fact that camera lock-on was improved, there was some negative feedback about zooming in automatically for certain locations on the map. Because camera issues can lead to severe inconveniences, we opted for a quick band-aid fix for now. If the camera is forcefully zoomed in due to the lack of space, it will automatically zoom back out whenever possible. We have to look into every game object in BDM to completely resolve this issue, and it is unfortunately a time-consuming task. We will implement fixes one by one, so we ask for your understanding.
Character Stats and PvP Content
The next one is, of course, various PvP content that our adventurers have voiced out, which we definitely cannot just leave. The HP adjustment for Karkea Arena, of course, normal arena, and the time-gated Ramoness. Chang-Wook, any few words about it?
Character stats such as skill damage and max HP were tuned to encourage more aggressive plays in Karkea and Normal Arena. With the scheduled update on October 11, they will be adjusted to match the KR server environment. The changes to Ramoness entry times were largely thanks to the suggestions of our Adventurers. On our end, we had thought that providing a diverse schedule might disperse the player base, so we had limited the entry times to ensure a tightly packed matchmaking lobby. But taking your suggestions and the sheer scope of the GL server into consideration, we made Ramoness available for the entirety of the weekend. There weren’t any drastic increases to Ramoness participation rates, but we intend to respect your freedom to play at your leisure. So, for now, we’ll be keeping an eye on how this affects Ramoness participation in the long term.
You heard that right. As a person who loves PvP, I also feel the urge for this update, and hopefully, it’ll be updated in the game as soon as possible. From this point, I’m gonna hand it to Laila.
CP and Growth
Yeah, we do know that you love PvP, and all our Adventurers are actually familiar with this fact. At the previous Heidel Ball, Chang-Wook shared three main directions about the second half of 2022, and one of them was about CP and growth. CP from Knowledge is the foundation of your progression. To support our Adventurers in this aspect, we added Knowledge, Growth, and Hadum Field of Valor. We also increased the Rift Stone level limit for Blazing Chaos Crystal to 150. These additions will help our low-CP or new Adventurers to adapt and catch up to the high-CP players faster through CP from Hadum Knowledge, Boss Knowledge, and Rift Stone levels. And to add to that, we’ve also added Party Rush content, where you can obtain materials together with your Blood Kin or guild members. This content was designed to encourage low-CP Adventurers to form a connection with their Blood Kin or guild members, gathering materials such as Chaos Jewels, Chaos Cores, and Akhram Prophecies together. I’m glad many of you are enjoying it more than we expected.
I do agree. There was a lot of positive feedback about this war horn update from our Adventurers. And did you enjoy it? Cause you have guilds?
No, I did not.
You did not enjoy it?
Yeah, I’m just kidding. I did enjoy it for a moment. We compared the drop data of before and after this content went live, and we confirmed that our Adventurers are obtaining Chaos Cores much easier. With the addition of Party Rush, we will continue to implement more ideas so our Adventurers can enjoy steady progression. I also would like to mention Harmony Stones, which can potentially help Adventurers in their CP progression. With the insufficient materials required, it was, and still perhaps is, difficult to craft it. As mentioned during the Heidel Ball, we are trying to catch up with the KR server in terms of in-game content, ideally between this winter and spring next year. As a side effect of our rapid pace, the same content in KR can be more difficult for GL due to the gap in the state of progression. To compensate for this, we tried to distribute the necessary materials through various methods such as Party Rush and in-game events, but it proved to be not enough. We will continue to find a way to provide you with a steady pace in CP progression without making the early game obsolete, which is highly desired in Black Desert Mobile that our Adventurers are indeed looking for.
PvP and Guild Content Updates
Well, up next, the PvP and guild content updates. First, I’d like to talk about the Battlefield of the Sun, Calpheon Defense, yes! Well, personally, I was excited about this update since the Adventurers who don’t have a guild like myself could get a little taste of what’s gonna happen in a siege war. But still, that’s just my opinion, and there were some different feedbacks or reviews about this update. Let’s talk about it.
In Calpheon Defense, Adventurers go back in time to participate in an ancient siege war between Calpheon and Valencia. This content was designed with low-CP Adventurers in mind. Anyone can play a major role with Cannons and Tactical Elephants, and the rules are similar to that of Siege War, so Adventurers can enjoy a similar experience. However, recently many of you reached out to us about how the defending side is more advantageous. After assessing our data, we confirmed the need for some changes. We want to bring you this content in a more polished and balanced state, so we decided to remove Calpheon Defense from the current rotation to alternate only between Sandstorm Assault and Crimson Wind.
Event: Sandcastle Shore-down
Well, on a side note, there’s no way we’re not talking about the event that we recently had, the Sandcastle Shore-down. Many Adventurers out there have been talking about it. You’re so confident with the Otter sound. It’s an Otter sound!
Yes, we have to give credit to our Adventurers for this one. Many GL server Adventurers asked for playable Papu or Otter classes, so we hope you found this content enjoyable. I mean, I do remember because last time we had this same kind of after-Heidel-Ball-update review video. We had that one before, right? So there was a suggestion where some of our Adventurers wanted an Otter class as their main, so they were asking Chang-Wook if the Otter class can be a main class for our upcoming future. Chang-Wook obviously said no, but maybe this actually helped or maybe made you satisfied. Yes, to get the chance to become an Otter in real life.
Exactly, Papu or Crio. Another update that is worth mentioning is the Elite Guild Raid. As you know, it’s 10-member co-op PvE content where you can carry out critical strategies with your guild members. We wanted guild members to form a connection with each other by overcoming a common goal. Since high-CP Adventurers usually participate in Elite Guild Raid, we’ve noticed some competitive behavior between guilds. Guild Elite Raid requires a more strategic approach compared to Guild Rush. It seems like every guild is coming up with different strategies on how to manage the synergy between Urugon and Loure Ravi.
Fairy Content
Mmhmm, strategy. And there was some new content for our high-CP Adventurers, a.k.a. seasoned Adventurers, and with the appearance of the fairy, there came Laila in Black Desert Mobile. Just like my name, we’ve worked on the fairy content for quite a long time, and it’s also something much loved within our studio. We greatly appreciate our Adventurers showing so much love for the fairy. I was really flattered. Well, the fairy wasn’t named after me, it’s more like I was named after the fairy Laila. But we were all excited, and many of our Adventurers were excited to meet our little cabbage friend. But there were some comments that the required conditions for meeting this fairy were just too hard. Also, it’s quite a brand new update, so we were sort of confused and lost on how we can raise this fairy. Can you give us clues, or is there any other way that you can help us out?
The fairy content will be available as you proceed with the main quest in Northeast Kamasylvia, which you can enter from 30,000 CP. There’s no specific way to efficiently progress your fairy. Your fairy will naturally grow as she blossoms and learns skills when you bond with her often with the Curiosity earned from frequent playtime. I think giving your fairy constant love and care will be the most important factor in your fairy’s growth.
So there aren’t really other strategies or ways, but it’s more like giving love and affection towards your fairy. It’s more like we said on TNL: it’s raising a child. I hope that this will help everyone in progressing their fairies.
Trials of Ator
And, of course, next will be Trials of Ator. Of course, the new content that was updated last September 27th. Chang-Wook, could you please explain it to us?
In the Trials of Ator, you can enjoy manual control and some intense, thrilling combat as you figure out the ideal strategies for each trial. You can experience the thrill of combat as you progress, and each time you succeed, you’ll be able to obtain rewards. We hope you have an amazing experience as you overcome the Trials of Ator and obtain rewards.
It’s a new update. It’s very clear. It’s not a feeling of having a weekly homework but, of course, rather challenging yourself by planning a strategy before entering Trials of Ator and obtaining rewards. And do we like challenges? I do love challenges. You love challenges. Do our Adventurers love challenges? They do love challenges.
Ok. Well, Jeremy, what’s your current emblem status?
I just got my last Chaos Emblem two weeks ago.
Ok, I’m regretting asking you. I was told that the Path of Glory Season 10 will be updated in the first week of November. Is this true?
Yes, Season 10 is the last season of the Path of Glory. The emblem you can get from this season will be the final emblem. This will get rid of the burden of having to obtain a new emblem every season and keep the stats of the emblem you enhanced. We are also planning on making improvements to the system for emblems, as it will be the last season. In addition to emblem enhancement, an emblem decoration feature will be added for our Adventurers to have that sense of constant progression. We hope to see everyone actively participate since it’s a way for your Family to grow stronger.
Well, you know, I don’t know. So you just got your Chaos Emblem, but you still have to try it again. Well, all I can say is I’m indeed looking forward to the last season of Path of Glory. Now that you mention progression, we are constantly thinking of various ways for our Adventurers to experience a new type of combat. As a part of addressing this thought, we are soon planning to release Primal-grade Memory Imprints. Primal-grade Memory Imprints will have increased effects compared to the current Memory Imprints. We’ve increased the stats of the effects you can receive and made it possible to make wider use of the effects of the Memory Imprints.
Quality of Life Improvements
Also, there’s loading time for moving locations. I’m talking about instances where you hunt, then move to a town, then go back to hunt. We’ve made improvements to reduce the loading time that occurs in those instances. You’ll certainly feel that the screen loads faster when you move between locations that share the same UI.
Well, it never occurred to me how long it took for the loading, but now that I think about it, for some people, it can be annoying.
It could be. You never count, but if you think about it… Right now, it takes around 7 seconds to load the screen completely. But with the improvement, with a bit of exaggeration, you will be able to move in the blink of an eye. The speed of the loading screen was just super quick.
I want this update.
You’ll want this update, right?
I want this update.
I think Adventurers will be extremely happy with this update. And I remember we had the FSR and the resolution improvement, and there were Adventurers who were very happy about it. Chang-Wook, you and the team would continuously do these kinds of quality of life improvements, wouldn’t you?
We are constantly working on improving quality of life. Among the opinions voiced by many of our Adventurers and through the forums and Support, those regarding quality of life are a big part of them. We’ll continue to make improvements.
Well, I am guessing all of our Adventurers will be happy with this update, but your enthusiasm, Jeremy, right there was very astonishing.
We are Adventurers ourselves, so why not? That’s a very natural reaction, too. We’ve been delivering updates and events on TNL every week, but gathering all these past updates together sort of gave me a fresh feeling. But that’s my point of view. What did you think?
Well, for me, I think this has been an interesting chit-chat with Chang-Wook. Because, as we look back, of course, in the past to really see how the developers implemented the updates in the roadmap from Heidel Ball, I was really glad to see all of you again, and it was a pleasure to present to you what I’ve prepared. I hope we can meet again soon, sometime around winter, as we near the 3rd anniversary of the GL service. I’ve prepared a small gift that may aid your adventure, and I hope it’s useful. Well, enjoy this coupon code from Chang-Wook, and I hope this video was helpful. Thank you so much for your time, Adventurers. I hope you have a good one. Bye!
